Discuss YOUR personal reaction to this news event. Would you participate? Why or why not? What would you have done if you witnessed this event?
What obstacles might a reporter have when covering this story? Discuss in a paragraph.
I thought that this event was very unique and personal. The event was supposed to be humorous and create a scene of chaos in public places. Personally I would choose not to participate in the event, simply because I don't particularly want to expose myself in public like that. I'm sure to some the scenes created were quite entertaining, and if I was there to witness it I probably would have laughed as well. A reporter might feel a bit uncomfortable covering such an event because of all the people exposing themselve. It could also make some interviews a bit awkward.
ReplyDeleteWell in all honesty, i think it is awsome that people joined together to do something like this. If I had of been there I no doubt would have joined in. I mean it's not towards a charity or anything but it's just something fun to do. Even if I was a newspaper reporter and was doing a story on this, I myself would try to join in just to get a better perspective on it. Because there are probably people out there that think that this stunt was ridiculous and uncalled for but not everyone can be pleased with every artical. I might actully go try this one day. :)
ReplyDeleteBRIDGET :D
Honestly, I would probably participate in this event. I think it is great that people joined together and did this to support their cause. The best thing about it is that it wasn't used as a joke, and it gained everyone's attention. If i saw this event I would probably laugh and ask them why they were doing this. I wouldn't be offended or grossed out. If someone feels strongly about something, they should be able to express this in a fashion where everyone will notice while nobody is being offended. Its just underwear. People wear less than this at the beach. If I was a reporter on this topic, I would probably join in to gain a better idea of why they are doing this and realize that everyone has a cause. Some people may get upset over it but, nobody is going to be happy with all articles and events happening today. Some readers may think it is stupid but in reality, it served its purpose. It gained the attention of our society and now people will better understand their cause.
ReplyDeletei do not like that everybody was wearing no pants on the subway. I think that is just no right and plus you might be laught on also why you are on the subway that is in new york and i think it is just so crazy people not wearing no pants on the subway in new york.
ReplyDeleteIf I would have been on a subway and saw this happening, I would do what everyone else was doing! DUH! Everyone knows the subway goes faster with no pants. If I was a reporter, it would be hard to really cover a story that is about people not wearing pants, because there’s really not a purpose behind it. However, it really makes you think about the “no shoes, no shirt, no service” signs.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would participate in something like this. I'd feel very akward, and probably FREEZE TO DEATH whenever I got off the subway (My Mom would worry about me, and then I'd be dead even if I managed to survive the cold). I also wouldn't like to keep up with my pants. If they're on my body, I don't have to worry about it! Even if I'd witnessed it, I still feel very very akward. I don't think I could have a normal conversation with somebody who wasn't wearing them, like they were described when talking to each other in the article.
ReplyDeleteSome issues a reporter would face when covering this story is taking the pictures to show alongside the article. Some people wouldn't like having an image of themselves in their underpants that could be shown on a national news archive (like NBC). They might be embarassed about it.
Personally I couldn't stop laughing. I think what these people are doing is very funny but unfortunately I don't think I would participate. I really could not go in public half naked it would just be weird. When reporting this story I believe that this would have to be portrayed as a tradition. Since it was the article was written making it sound as a tradition it came off appropreiate. If the article was wrote as just a prank then some might see this as inappropreiate and vulgar.
ReplyDeleteI was kinda suprised by this article. And yet the question would I do it is still unknown to me. Im very outgoing, always up for new things and one of a time chances but Im not sure if this would be going too far. I think people coming together for a cause is great but if you come out of it feeling some of your dignity has been loss the whats the point?
ReplyDeleteIf I was reporting this story one of the biggest obstacles I might face is how to report this story to the point its appropriate for everyone to read and how to make it claer to the readers on why they participated.
This news event made my day. It was very different and I liked that people would come together to make the world laugh and say that things don't have to be so serious.
ReplyDeleteI would not participate myself because it's to cold to go pantsless, but thats just me.
Any reporter covering this story would have to tackle how to say why the group went pantsless on the subway, and any type of criticism on the event.
I thought this was rather comical! I however wonder how they got away taking their pants off in public. Depending on when laundry was done, i might participate. It all comes down to the fact of what underpants i'm wearing. If your undies don't match your shirt then you most likely take off your pants.I might have to be caught in a crazy moment and all jacked up on red bull, then the posibility is high. However i have some morals for my body, and it being seen in the vunerable underwear outfit do not comply with said morals. If i witnessed this event i would definitely take a lot of pictures!
ReplyDeleteFor a reporter to cover this stroy i would say that it would have been difficult to find an angle as well as gathering information as to why the participants were taking their pants off.
My personal reaction to this event was pure joy! Of course I would participate in any pants off occasion because I feel that the dog eat dog society of today needs a few laughs, and this is a great way to go about it. Though it might offend some, it isn't any worse than some revealing outfits people wear nowadays. If I were to witness this event, I would first participate, then proceed to take numerous photos of the event. This story might be difficult to report due to the fact that our society has many different morals, and some people may find this story offensive. I feel that reporting this story is harmless because it brings unity to people as well as a good time.
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this event is shock. I can't say I would never see anyone doing this, but to actually have a day for it, that shocks me. I would not participate because I think the topic is kind of weird. Well before reading this article, I didn't know that there was a day towards wearing no pants on a subway, so I would ask them why they were wearing no pants or just stay away from them. The reporter might of had to participate in the event to know how the participants felt and to be able to cover the full story.
ReplyDeleteI would not participate, though I think this is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI am sure very, very few people want to have their pantless selves published in a news story.
Wow! haha to me this even is very stupid and pointless. Taking your pants off in public is not very commical. it is rather dumb. If i was on the subway amd i seen this happening i would have to say soamething to them and it really would not be nice. people should not just take their pants off because they feel like it. It is all just an act of stupidity to me.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that i would participate in this event for the reason that i would feel violated and like everyone was looking at my junk, if i would of bee a witness to this chaios i think i would just start busting out laughing, obsticals a reporter would have with this story would probally be the photos and the way he/she would gather the information.
ReplyDeleteI would for sure be right in with that! You only live your life once and everyone needs to do something a little off color in their life. If I were unaware of the event and stumbled upon someone participating I would giggle and then high-five them.
ReplyDeleteReporters may have had trouble with finding the source of this celebration or when it all started. And many buisness people may not have been obliged to share much and have it be published in the news FOREVER!
