Theme Implementation

We're halfway through the school year now, and we have designed approximately 1/3 of the pages for this year's book. How well do you believe we are doing on integrating the theme "Tune into 2010?" Discuss IN DETAIL one strength you've seen and one weakness. Provide TWO suggestions for you believe we can develop the theme well from this point on.

Reply by the end of the class period on Monday, January 4th!

  1. I think thousand and ten because i think it is a new year and i know some of the people are going to call it twenty ten and some of the people might call it thousand and ten and i think that is a lot better to say it that way then twenty ten.

  2. I think that overall the theme is being implicated into this book well. One weakmess i see though is that some of the pages turn out to be a little more plain with no connection to music when there could be.One strenght i see is that the titles and dividers and style is defenetly going along with the theme.

  3. I think that as a whole the class has done well, but with being part of the sports section it is hard to always incorporate something musical or something to do with the theme. I think that with each section using something that adds to the theme, in maybe just the headings or the layout then it helps. I don't think that everything has to go into that theme. I think that some groups are trying to add too much to the theme and it just seems like too much. I think that if we just add one little thing to every page or idea then it would help and have the stories and layouts have some type of connection.

  4. From what I have seen and heard, it seems as though we are doing well to implement the theme. I am in the senior section and all we have done so far is dealt with the senior pictures mainly so we have not been able to incorporate much yet. A strength is, the senior section is trying to incorportate music into the senior pictures pages by putting something on the side and a weakness that I see is, maybe we arent doing as much as possible when it comes to placing music into things.

  5. I believe we could be doing better to tie in our theme into the pages we are working with. It is hard for the underclassmen and faculty to tie in the theme. but I like the folio. I'm afraid that "Tune in..." is getting too reptitious in our titles and we need to come up with more clever names. I really like the theme because of how broad it is. It is easy to use and I love the cover. It is a great theme that ties in our school, i just believe there are more clever ideas we could use than just music notes or cd players.

  6. Our main weakness is laziness. That being said, the people who do work hard have gotten our first third of the book to look great! I know that incorporating the theme can be difficult, but my suggestion: if all else fails, make the title a song name. I also think we should be getting more photos of the average student around school than we currently have. I know there are plenty of photo ops.

  7. It seems like we're doing very well so far on integrating the theme into each page and getting pages completed, considering we havent got underclassmen and faculty pictures in yet to comeplete those pages. A strenght we have is having a variety of things that can accoceate with "tune in to 2010" a weakness is getting that variety to the pages. Some pages seem to have alot on them, others not so much. We need to come up with a common ground that can interest the student yet not be to much nor to little.

  8. This year I beleive we have a difficult more difficult task than other times. The theme "Tune Into 2010" is a theme that is hard to tie everything in to. One weaknees that I have already noticed is pictures. The pictures have to be about the most difficult thing to tie into this theme. Actually I dont see how any pictures have related to the theme unless it has something to do with the choir or band or something of that sort. As for two suggestions about how to make this theme work is first of all, get everyone to pick up their slack, people sitting around to ABSOULTLY NOTHING is the reason why we are not farther along then what we are. Second of all, I beleive we need to think more creativly either with some of the page designs or the pictures themselves. The only time that mug shots should be seen is in the school photos of every class, not on a feature page.

  9. I think we are doing a fairly good job implementing the theme, "Tune into 2010" into the yearbook. For my section, all of our titles have connected to the music theme. Maybe we could incorporate it more into the actual writing, even though it is difficult to do with sports. To further develop the theme, I think we could add a few more musical graphics throughout the entire book, to make the pages more interesting. We could also have more musical connections in the articles and titles.

  10. I think so far we've integrated the theme very well. My favorite strength so far would be the music note folio. I think the biggest weakness is thinking of song titles that match the topic of the articles. If brainstorming song titles you know of doesn't work, we could fix this by choosing one particular word that sums up the subject and typing that into a music title search engine, like http://www.anytitle.com/

  11. I personally have not seen a lot of the other pages in the yearbook. Personally I think we (my section) have done small things like titles. But the amount of tune into 2010 has not been taken above and beyond. I think the unique titles have been used. However I don't think we have followed the theme in our writing styles at all. For suggestions I think we could begin to have more graphics incorporating our theme. Also I think our diction should reflect our theme.

  12. I believe we can can do a better job of integrating the theme
"Tune into 2010" by, not just emphasizing the music programs in the school, but by showing how music can effect students personally in and oout of school. For example how has music effected a student? What is the most popular type of music for the student body? What music defines each class? or when sports teams get ready to play a game do they listen to music to get pumped up. We need to pay more a ttention to what affect music has on all students not just including clever music titles or puns. Also we can expand our focus by including other forms of entertainment because the theme "Tune into 2010"
    is very broad.

  13. Well, we started out on the right foot (as opposed to on the left foot). I think that our cover is pretty much right on with the theme while incorporating some school spirit. However... I must admit that our class as a whole, everyone is included in this, is lacking in theme in the rest of the book. I think that is we all just looked at out work and said, "Hmm...how can I make this just a little bit more theme orineted?" Then I think that we could be rocking this thing out hard

  14. Out of the three year's I have been in this class this is probably the year that we have implemented the theme as much as we have. I believe that as far as the cover, it is a very good example of the theme being shown. a few negatives of the theme are first of all it is aolready becoming repetative with music notes on every page. Another negative is that there are no other solid ideas for graphics to show the theme except for music notes. Overall I believe this will be the best yearbook I have done so far.

  15. I think our class is doing very well in implicating the theme, though at times it is repetitive. We're very strong in designing pages as a whole. We have developed very eye catching pages that are organized. Our biggest weakness is photo quality. We take appropriate pictures, but I feel we could use more techniques we learned while taking them.

I think we can further implicate the theme well by thinking outside the box of "TUNE" into 2010, and use more music themes rather than tuners. Also, we need to use musical themes more in our stories as well as questions we ask students.
