Part A: In the past few years, there has been an EXPLOSION in the interest of social media outlets such as Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter. In a well-developed paragraph (4-5 sentences) discuss what role social media plays in your life. If you choose not to use social media, discuss why you stay away from it.

My friends help me to understand homeowrk I need help with , and they also help to inform others about homework assignments we may have forgotten via status updates.Without facebook, I would most likely forget about many assignments and projects I do. Also, social media has been responsible for me getting in contact with old friends who moved away, and in better contact with my family.
Part A:Social Media is a very important in my life. It is not only a way of keeping up with whats going on with friends and family you might not be able to see often, but there has been many times that i have went online to get an assignment for school because i was absent. They do have online classroom for this, but with friends they can explain it and try to help. Another reason it has its because you get the chance to present yourself in the way you want and you can talk to friends on a daily basis. Social meda i think for others has become dependable because of work and getting information quicker. Businesses also know that teens and adults get on here alot and they make profiles so that people get a better outlook and even actual photos of their merchandise or business in general.

ReplyDeletePart A: Society today uses social media as a way for people to keep in contact with each other. It also allows people to connect with old friends. Social Media now plays an important role in spreading information and advertising. For me social media is not that important.

Andrew Gillette (Junior): Uses Topix and facebook . Facebook helps connect with friends, keep up with school events and hanging out with friends. Topix entertaining to read what people write, provides laughs.
Sarah Mukerjie (sophomore): Uses Facebook which helps to keep in contact with friends that live far away.
2) What are good and bad things about the social media trend?
Gillette: social media causes procrastination and gossip, but helps to keep up with other peoples live.

Part A: Social media does not play a large role in my life. I do get on Myspace and Facebook every now and then but I do not sit on there for hours at a time. I get on Myspace and Facebook when I am bored but nothing other than that. I do not have a Twitter page and I do not plan on making one. I think Twitter is a waste of time and effort. Topix on the other hand is a complete different story. I do get on there when I am bored simply to read what people are trying to say about other people. People get on that website to put other people down and not have to worry about the repercussions because it is all anonymous.

A. Social media dose play a role in my life but its not a very big part. For instance, social media helps me keep in touch with my friends that I no longer see any more. Nowadays teachers are starting to use twitter in class rooms and are useing it to help teach their students. Facebook helps me keep in touch with people that I might not talk to all day. i feel that social media helps people in some bad ways too; such as some people can get really addicted,some people can even be harmed.

ReplyDeleteSocial media plays a huge role in my life. In fact, I’m using it now to complete part B. I use Facebook religiously. It is my way to keep up with family and friends, since I move so much. I check movie times and I like to keep up with what everyone else is doing during the day. Though I don’t like Twitter, I like to post my updates throughout the day.

Q: What is your favorite social networking site and why?
John Stewart: I love facebook because you can keep up with everybody and it’s a lot of fun. I just wish I could put songs on my profile like Myspace.
Q: How has social networking affected your life?
Emily Keith: I feel as is some people will show or say things that they wouldn’t be comfortable sharing with others in person. That connection with people can put you in positions where you don’t really know how true people are. Some people post comments that appear nice and friendly, but they are just “showing face” on the web so they won’t look bad.
Part A: The only one I use is facebook and it used to play a big role in my life, but this year I have been overwhelmed with mountains of homework and thus am not allowed on because of my assignments. Facebook makes it easier for me to make plans with my friends, and uploading photos reminds me of all the fun times we've had together. It's also easier for me to get in touch with people I don't see everyday (like family members), and in a bizarre twist of irony I can ask my friends what was assigned for homework that day if I forget.

ReplyDeleteSocial Media does not play a BIG role in my life now, but in retrospect it used too. MySpace and facebook are both things I do when I’m bored. This is a lot of my time, unfortunately. Twitter has never interested me because I do not worry myself with what the celebs do in their daily life. When it comes to topix, that’s a different story, I get on there a lot just to see what has been updated and voice my opinion. It is more interactive then any of the other social websites I know of. People type in comments on different posts trying to bring people down, luckily, most of those people that talk down people put their name in as anonymous, or Anon. Although this website has caused someone to commit suicide that only raised its population. In all honesty though, I would suggest people just to stay away from all these websites because they can be addicting when you have no life and can start so much drama that most people try to avoid.

A.) I use multiple social networking sites for its sole purpose, to be socially active. Some of my friends on those sites do not have texting and i'm not much of a calling person so it allows us to talk without having the awkward silence on the phone.

I personally don’t have a twitter, or Myspace. But I do have a Facebook. I think it allows people to communicate in a mostly positive way. However, the use of Twitter, which I don’t follow, seems to be more blog based. Myspace seems to be dangerous to me, seeing as it usually is younger kids who use it. It seems as though they use the site to market their bodies to others rather than keep in touch with each other.

Michael: Eh, maybe about once a day or so, but not every day.
Linea: Everyday, sometimes I get on more than once.
2. What is your purpose for using the site?
Michael: To network myself.
Linea: to be nosey really, I just check out everyone’s pages.
3. Do you think the amount of ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ you have correlates in real life?
Michael: No, I pretty much accept anyone as a friend
Linea: No, I actually have less friends in real life.
4. Do you think Tom from Myspace have a Facebook?
Michael: Yeah, of course, everyone is Tom’s friend!
Linea: That’s actually a really good question, he was always in it for the friends.
5. Do you have a farm or mafia etc.? why?
Michael: Oh no no, none of that. I hate the requests!
Linea: Sadly, yes, I do, and I killed my plants, someone sent me a tree and I was hooked, I love free trees!

Michael: No, no, I’m not that addicted!

Social Media has become a way to keep your entire life in check. It is not just a way to keep up with your friends anymore. It has become a way to schedule events, keep a calendar of your life, share photos and videos with the world, harvest your crops, and find out which Disney princess you really are. This social networking site for me however, is simply a place to check in on my friends and their lives. Making sure they are doing well and all is good. I am not an avid user of Facebook but I get on enough to keep my life in check as well as my friends.

Social Media does play a huge role in my life. I use Myspace, Facebook, and Myyearbook. I use it to chat with my friends and post events and invitations on my page. It is a way people can look at my personality which is shown through my profile. It is sometimes easier to find my friends on these sites than it is trying to get them to answer their phones! I also get to have pen pals, which I love talking to. So many people have so many different traditions from their cultures and you can actually learn from them.
